Product catalog summary
Engine Description
The V8-1000 and V8-1200 engines are 8-cylinder diesel engines arranged in a 90° V configuration. They operate on a 4-stroke cycle and are water-cooled. Both engines feature turbocharging with a charge air intercooler and waste gate, with the V8-1000 having a single-stage turbocharger and the V8-1200 a two-stage turbocharger. Each cylinder has 4 valves, and the engines use a common rail direct fuel injection system with electronic control. The lubrication system is closed with forced feeding, oil cooling, and filtering. Cooling is achieved through a plate heat exchanger using seawater. Engine control is managed electronically with an Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) system, which includes a diagnostic unit. The engines are compatible with DIN EN 590 fuel.
Technical Features
  • Displacement: 16.16 liters for both models.
  • Maximum Output: V8-1000 produces 735 kW (1,000 hp), while V8-1200 produces 882 kW (1,200 hp).
  • Rated Speed: 2,300 rpm for both engines.
  • Maximum Torque: V8-1000 delivers 3,350 Nm, and V8-1200 delivers 4,010 Nm, with operational speeds ranging from 1,300 to 2,100 rpm for V8-1000 and 1,200 to 2,100 rpm for V8-1200.
  • Fuel Consumption: At rated power, V8-1000 consumes 195 l/h, and V8-1200 consumes 231 l/h.
  • Exhaust Gas Status: Both engines comply with IMO Tier 2, EPA Tier 3, RCD 94/25/EC, and 97/68/EC standards, with increased fuel consumption noted only under EPA Tier 3 for private use.
Technical Data
  • Dimensions: Both engines have an overall width of 1,153 mm and length of 1,745 mm. The V8-1000 has a height of 1,236 mm, while the V8-1200 is slightly shorter at 1,222 mm.
  • Weight: The V8-1000 weighs 1,780 kg, and the V8-1200 weighs 1,875 kg when dry and ready for installation.
Power and Torque Charts
The power and torque charts illustrate the performance characteristics of both engines across various rpm levels. The V8-1000 and V8-1200 engines show a steady increase in power and torque as rpm increases, with specific curves for full load and propeller operation.
