Product catalog summary
Introduction
The article discusses the creation of the Phoenix, a 200-foot Lürssen motor yacht, highlighting the challenges and achievements in its design and construction. The yacht's owners prioritized quality and technical perfection, leading to a project that nearly stalled but ultimately succeeded.

Owner's Vision and Requirements
The owners had specific demands for speed, range, crew service, private areas, a professional dive center, and environmental considerations. They sought a yacht capable of self-sufficient cruising for 30 days, with minimal noise and maximum stability. Initial attempts to find a builder were unsuccessful due to high costs and unmet specifications.

Design and Construction
Rob Moran, the broker, helped the owners develop a detailed bid specification, focusing on seakeeping, rolling, speed, and noise targets. Lürssen was eventually chosen for their ability to meet these requirements. Espen Øeino was hired to review the hull design, ensuring the yacht could handle various ocean conditions.

Technical Achievements
Phoenix features a wide beam and significant displacement, contributing to its stability. The yacht's design includes oversized stabilizer fins and a specific metacentric height (GM) to enhance comfort and stability. The yacht achieved impressive performance during sea trials, including emergency stops and tight turns.

Interior Design
Andrew Winch Designs crafted the yacht's interior, drawing inspiration from French Deco with an American twist. The design features mirrored finishes, geometric prints, and decorative objects. The owners' suite spans two decks, incorporating luxurious elements and a private office.

Decor and Materials
Designer Dawn Moffitt contributed to the color and material selection, resulting in a harmonious interior. The yacht features 30 different stones and a complex lighting plan, enhancing the overall aesthetic.

Unique Features
Phoenix includes a circular piano vestibule, a dramatic stainless atrium staircase, and a vaulted glass ceiling in the upper salon. The design balances French Deco themes with modern elements, creating a sophisticated and comfortable environment.

Conclusion
The Phoenix project, despite initial challenges, exceeded the owner's expectations. The collaboration between the owners, designers, and Lürssen resulted in a yacht that combines technical excellence with unparalleled decor.

LÜRSSEN 200 The elegant stateroom portion of Phoenix’s two-deck owners’ suite perfectly expresses French Deco themes with mirrored and gloss finishes, geometric prints and highly decorative objects, such as the wall-size reproduction of an antique Coromandel screen. Andrew Winch Designs developed the architecture, while Dawn Moffitt supplied color, surface fabric and furniture guidance. Metaphorically speaking, most custom yachts are a balancing act – the process of modulating owners’ dreams with the realities of physics, finances or technology. PHOENIX ALFA FOUR recalls Rob Moran, the broker who spearheaded the Lürssen project. “During their investigation, he developed specifications and approached a selection of yards on his own.” According to Moran, many of the yards seemed not to pay serious attention to the owner’s specific requests and those that did quoted unacceptable prices, terms or delivery dates. Finally, convinced that a yacht matching his requirements could not be built, he shelved the idea. Moran thought the project worth another try and requested permission to represent the owner in the process. “We wrote a very detailed...

PHOENIX Staggered deck heights enhance the features of the sun deck located aft of the gym. Phoenix's contemporary profile is enhanced by her radar mast, which was drawn by the owner and Capt. Ruiz. ting a Feadship and on a residence. Despite the distances separating the team, the end result is seamless with no competition between soft goods and architecture. Beautiful stonework, and lots of it, plays a strong role in the ensemble of details. “These clients love decorative stone; they aren’t afraid of color and they like diversity,” Moffitt said. In fact, Phoenix features 30 different stones...
