Product catalog summary
Overview: The LA36 actuator by LINAK is a durable and powerful actuator designed for extreme conditions, offering a maintenance-free alternative to hydraulic solutions. It features an integrated controller and is available in 12, 24, or 36 V DC motor options.
Specifications: The actuator provides thrust from 500 N to 10,000 N, with a maximum speed of 160 mm/sec depending on load and spindle pitch. Stroke lengths range from 100 to 999 mm. It includes built-in endstop switches and a non-rotating piston rod eye. The protection class is IP66 (dynamic) and IP69K (static).
Options: The LA36 offers mechanical overload protection, exchangeable cables, special anodised housing, and IECEx/ATEX certification for Zone 21. It supports communication protocols like Modbus, LIN bus, and CAN bus, and provides analogue or digital feedback for precise positioning.
Usage and Performance: The duty cycle varies with stroke length and load, with a maximum of 20% at 600mm stroke and 5% at 10,000N. The operating temperature ranges from -30°C to +65°C, with full performance between +5°C and +40°C.
Technical Details: The actuator includes a permanent magnet motor, integrated brake, and mechanical slip clutch for overload protection. The housing is made of cast aluminium, suitable for harsh environments, and the spindle part is constructed from anodised aluminium and stainless steel.
Environmental Tests: The LA36 has undergone climatic, mechanical, and electrical environmental tests to ensure reliability under various conditions.
Recommendations: Users are advised to follow specific instructions to prevent damage, such as ensuring the motor is shorted when stopped for maximum self-locking ability and selecting a power supply that can handle backward load dumps.
Procedures and Recommendations: Regular activation of limit switches is recommended to ensure precise positioning. The actuator may enter a position lost state, maintaining the highest feedback level until re-initialized. Both physical end stop switches need activation for correct feedback initialization.
Norms and Standards: The document mentions compatibility with the SAE J1939 standard for CAN bus configurations, including specific wiring and speed requirements.
Feedback Configurations: Various feedback configurations are available, including PWM, Single Hall, Analogue Feedback Voltage (AFV), and Analogue Feedback Current (AFC). Each has its pros and cons, such as suitability for long-distance transmission or immunity to electrical noise.
Actuator Configurations: Customizable options include current limits, speed settings, and virtual end stops. The document provides guidance on recommended ranges and conditions affecting these settings, such as temperature changes.
Soft Start and Stop Specifications: Soft stop duration ranges from 0.01 to 0.29 seconds due to back-EMF from the motor. The soft start duration is 0.3 seconds for both directions, with a range from 0 to 30 seconds. It is advised not to use 0 seconds for soft start to avoid stress on the actuator due to higher inrush current.
System Combination Possibilities: Includes LA36 IC, RF receiver, HB40 DP, and signal cable.
Environmental Tests - Climatic: Includes cold, dry heat, temperature change, damp heat, and salt mist tests to ensure durability under various conditions.
Degrees of Protection: IP66 and IP69K ratings ensure dust-tight and water ingress protection under specified conditions.
Mechanical Tests: Includes free fall, vibration, bump, and shock tests to ensure mechanical robustness.
Electrical Tests: Includes power supply, HF-immunity and emission, and automotive transients tests to ensure electrical reliability.
Ex Certification: Allows actuator use in Ex dust areas with specific temperature and dust protection ratings.
Terms of Use: Users must determine the suitability of LINAK products for specific applications. LINAK products are subject to modifications without prior notice, and availability cannot be guaranteed. All sales are subject to LINAK's Standard Terms of Sale and Delivery.

Technical specifications * The typical values can have a variation of ± 20% on the current values and ± 10% on the speed values. Measurements are made with an actuator in connection with a stable power supply and an ambient temperature at 20°C. ** There are limitations on the stroke length if you need full load, please see " LA36 Load v. Stroke Length" *** Fully loaded actuators need a soft start in order to prevent the clutch from slipping when starting (see speed and current curves).
