Bulk Handling Port of Krishnapatnam, India The port of Krishnapatnam is a natural port, ideally located on the East Coast of India in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh, 180 km north of Chennai. The location of the port offers logistical ad- vantages. It has become a port of choice for all international cargo originating from and destined to the Southern and Central India. Considering India's growing maritime trade and unprecedented growth in bulk commodities, the port of Krishnapatnam is a mo- dern, deep water, high productivity port. The port is currently handling a wide range of cargo mix varying from iron ore, coal, coke, fertilizers, project cargo, raw sugar, granite, quartz, rock Already in 2008 the port of Krishnapatnam Company Ltd. received delivery of two LHM 500s. Being equipped with 2x70 tonnes win- ches as well as a 40 m3 and a 14 m3 grab, such cranes are desig- nated for heavy duty coal and iron ore handling. In 2009 another two LHM 500s were delivered increasing the fleet of mobile har- bour cranes at the port of Krishnapatnam to four cranes in total. On the 20th of August 2009, Krishnapatnam Company Ltd. has achieved an All-India record. The cape size vessel MV Cape San- ta Alegria was turned around with an average load rate of 50,400 t iron ore per day. A total cargo of 101,2501 was loaded within 48 hours by using two Liebherr Mobile Harbour Cranes, type LHM 500.
