Engine The heart of the system is the electric motor. The drive must work powerful, reliable, quiet and maintenance-free. For Krautler Sail-Drive only maintenance-free AC technology is used. This technique is characterized by a very long life and is robust to adverse environmental conditions. Controller With the comfortable single-lever controller a variable speed control in forward and reverse drive is possible. The high-quality electric controller works almost without loss and protects your valuable battery pack against too deep discharge. With the modern controller we have the possibility to adapt the drive system optimally to your ship. Gearbox Krautler builds the Sail-Drive-gearbox itself. Why? The gearbox has to be quiet, because only a quiet and smooth running gearbox has the best efficiency. For this reason, only spiral-toothed, polished and paired bevel gears are used. For use in salt or brackish water a bronze gearbox housing is used. Easy to install The Sail-Drive is supplied with a fiberglass foundation base, which can be laminated to the hull (depending on motor size). For this reason, the installation effort is kept to a minimum. For existing foundations such as: "Volvo" and "Yanmar" the Sail-Drive is equipped with an adapter plate and can be screwed directly on the existing foundation.
