Product catalog summary
Description
Double-Sided Butyls are sealing tapes made from a butyl rubber adhesive compound. The available compounds include T1520 for hard cohesion, BK for aggressive tack on porous surfaces, and T1292 for high internal cohesion.
Features
  • Good shape stability and mechanical features
  • Highly soft and adaptable
  • Cold applied and instantly adhesive
  • Vapour and waterproof self-sealing
  • Excellent heat stability and self-amalgamating
  • No oil migration and solvent-free
Uses
These tapes are suitable for joining and fixing materials like glass, steel, Plexiglas, polycarbonate, wood, aluminium, and PVC. They are designed for flexible connections of sheets or panels not under mechanical stress and can be used for temporary fixing before permanent mechanical junctions.
Dimensions and Packaging
Standard thicknesses are 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm, with various lengths and widths available. Rolls are packed in boxes or with plastic holders for large widths.
Technical Data
  • Compound Type/Colour: Double-Sided Butyl Rubber Adhesive / Black or Grey
  • Standard Thicknesses: 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 mm
  • Solids: 100%
  • 180° Peel Adhesion: Varies by compound (e.g., T1520: 22 N/cm)
  • Application Temperature Range: 0°C to +40°C
  • Service Temperature Range: -40°C to +100°C
Surface Preparation
The surface must be clean, dry, smooth, and dust-free. For temperatures between -5°C and 0°C, ensure no moisture is present.
Application
Select the appropriate tape width, apply it to the surface, press with a roller, remove the release liner, and apply the second surface.
Storage
Store in original packaging in a dry, ventilated place at +5°C to +40°C. Use within 12 months of production. Storage above 50°C may cause difficulties in removing the release liner.
Safety and Limitations
The materials are not hazardous for normal use but should be kept out of reach of children. They are not suitable for permanent fixings or load-bearing applications. Compatibility with surfaces should be checked prior to use.
