Iris Serial Data Distributors provide control of multiple devices such as Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras or Video Switching Matrices from multiple control devices such as the IRIS range of marine camera controllers, digital video recorders (DVR) or third party control equipment communicating using the RS485 Serial Data Protocol. The range consists of three models, each with two RS485 control inputs and a third RS232 input. All three inputs sit in standby mode until a command is received. If an input is ‘busy’ the other two inputs remain on standby until the active port becomes dormant. A built in line driver allows serial data to be transmitted up to 1200 meters in distance and each port features transient surge protection. Unit capacity is as follows: Both input and output ports are isolated on all models. For situations where more inputs are required, units can be cascaded accordingly. For example, If three RS485 control inputs are required to drive seven pTz cameras and a video switching matrix (all RS485), two IRIS0204 devices can be used to handle the inputs with an output from each unit fed-into the two inputs on an IRIS0216.
