Primocon Primers Conventional Underwater Primer PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Tarfree, quick drying conventional onepart primer for all substrates underwater. Can be used under all International antifoulings or as a barrier/sealer coat over incompatible or unknown antifoulings. * Primocon prevents leaching of TBT from an underlying antifouling coating provided it is applied at a minimum dry film thickness of 80 microns (minimum 2 coats by roller) & that the film remains intact. PRODUCT INFORMATION Colour Specific Gravity Volume Solids Typical Shelf Life Unit Size DRYING/OVERCOATING INFORMATION Drying 5°C (41°F) Note: For all other International antifoulings such as Cruiser Uno EU, Boatguard EU, Ultra EU, Cruiser Polishing Antifouling, Cruiser Premium Plus, Interspeed Extra, Micron 99, Micron Superior, Micron Extra EU, Micron LZ, Navigator, Ultra 300, Boatguard 100, Cruiser 200/250, Trilux 200 and Trilux Hard Antifouling, UniPro 250 use the Micron 350 overcoating times. If maximum overcoating time has been exceeded, sand using 80180 grade (grit) paper. Drying times refer to brush and roller application. Wash all surfaces except STEEL with Super Cleaner. BARE GRP Sand using 180220 grade (grit) paper. BARE WOOD/PLYWOOD Sand smooth with 80180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing, dusting and wiping. If wiping with solvent then allow to dry completely before applying products recommended for application direct to wood (see specific coating systems). ALUMINIUM Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 24120 grade (aluminium compatible) paper. Coarser grades are recommended to achieve optimum adhesion. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Preprime using an International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) as detailed for specific coating systems. ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 60120 grade paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry completely. Preprime using an International primer as detailed for specific coating systems. LEAD Degrease with solvent or Super Cleaner. Sand well using 120 grade paper or power wire brush. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Preprime using an International primer as detailed for specific coating systems. STEEL Gritblast to Sa 2½ near white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 2436 grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright metal surface with a 5075 microns anchor pattern. Use angle grinder on small areas. Preprime with Primocon thinned 1015% with Thinners No.3. PREVIOUSLY ANTIFOULED SURFACE In Good Condition Remove loose material. Wash down with fresh water. Allow to dry. In Poor Condition Remove using Interstrip. If filling is required, use appropriate filler after the first coat of Primocon has been applied. Before painting, remove any dust with a dust wipe. Apply the following number of coats: GRP 1, Wood/Plywood 3, Aluminium/Alloy/Zinc/Galvanised Steel/Lead/Steel 5, Barrier/Sealer coat 1. Mixing Stir well before use. Thinner YTA085 Thinners No.3 GTA007. Cleaner YTA085 Thinners No.3 Airless Spray Pressure: 211 bar. Tip Size: 21802680. Some Important Points Do not use below 5°C.
