INTERZINC 22HS DATA SHEET

INTERZINC 22HS DATA SHEET

Product catalog summary
Product Description: A two-pack inorganic zinc-rich silicate primer offering excellent abrasion resistance and corrosion protection for steel surfaces. It contains 82% zinc in the dry film and is low in VOCs.
Intended Uses: Suitable for a variety of above-water organic coating schemes, enhancing corrosion resistance. Applicable for new building or maintenance and repair.
Product Information: The primer is reddish grey with 78% volume solids. It is applied at 3 mils dry thickness and covers 417 ft²/US Gal at this thickness. Application methods include airless and conventional spray.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For steel, "Near White Blast Cleaning" is recommended. The surface profile should be between 2 and 2.5 mils.
Application: Mix the product thoroughly before application. Apply using airless or conventional spray, maintaining a wet film thickness of 3.8 mils to achieve a dry film thickness of 3.0 mils. Do not exceed 5.0 mils dry film thickness to avoid mudcracking.
Drying and Overcoating: Drying times vary with temperature, with touch dry times ranging from 15 to 30 minutes and hard dry times from 60 minutes to 2 hours. Overcoating intervals depend on ambient conditions and should be checked with a solvent rub test.
Safety and Handling: Follow all health and safety guidelines, including using protective equipment and ensuring proper ventilation. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety information.
Limitations: Not suitable for acid or alkaline conditions. Curing is affected by humidity levels, and the product should not be applied in conditions below 41°F or where surfaces are icy.
Storage: Store in a dry, shaded area between 40 and 95°F. Part A has a shelf life of 6 months, and Part B has a shelf life of 12 months.
Important Note: The information provided is subject to change and should be verified with an International Paint representative to ensure it is current.

Inorganic Zinc Silicate Airless Spray Conventional Spray Apply by conventional spray or airless spray. When spraying, pressure (material) tank must be located above or on the same level as work, material hoses should be extended full length - avoid loops, sags and coils. Allow for losses due to surface irregularities and application methods. Strain material through a minimum 60 mesh screen before application. Apply 3.8 mils wet which will yield 3.0 mils dry film thickness. Consult the following equipment recommendations or utilize suitable equal. Note: Do not apply in excess of 5.0 mils dry film...

Inorganic Zinc Silicate Apply in good weather when air and surface temperatures are above 41 °F. Surface temperatures must be at least 5° F above dew point. For optimum application properties, bring material to 70-81 °F prior to mixing and application. Unmixed material (in closed containers) should be maintained in protected storage between 40 and 95°F. Care should be taken at temperatures close to freezing that surfaces are free from ice. At relative humidities below 50%, curing will be severely retarded and humidity may need to be increased by use of steam or water spraying. For high temperature...
