Intertherm 50

Product catalog summary
Product Description: Intertherm 50 is a one-pack, aluminum pigmented silicone resin coating designed as a light reflective primer/finish for surfaces exposed to temperatures up to 540°C, such as exhaust stacks. It is suitable for new building, maintenance, and repair or onboard maintenance.
Intended Uses: Available in HTA097-Aluminium and HTA099-Black, with a volume solids content of 45% and a typical dry film thickness of 25 microns. Theoretical coverage is 18 m²/litre at 25 microns dft. Application methods include airless spray, brush, conventional spray, and roller.
Product Information: The product is a single pack with a flash point of 25°C. Drying times vary with temperature, with touch dry times ranging from 15 to 90 minutes and hard dry times from 60 minutes to 5 hours.
Regulatory Data: VOC content is 495 g/lt as supplied, compliant with the EU Solvent Emissions Directive.
Certification: Certified for fire resistance and compliant with the Marine Equipment Directive.
Surface Preparations: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contamination. High-pressure fresh water wash or solvent cleaning is recommended. For new building, Intertherm 50 can be applied over zinc silicate shop primers, provided they are fully cured. Major refurbishment requires abrasive blast cleaning to Sa2½ standard.
Application: Thorough mixing with a power agitator is required. Airless spray is recommended, with specific equipment and settings provided. Proper safety measures, including ventilation and protective equipment, are necessary during application.
Limitations: Not suitable for acid or alkaline conditions. Over-application can lead to blistering or cracking. Maximum dry film thickness should not exceed 25 microns per coat.
Storage: Shelf life is 12 months at 25°C, with storage in dry, shaded conditions away from heat and ignition sources.
Important Note: Users should verify the current data sheet version and consult International Paint for specific recommendations. Liability for product performance is limited, and users assume risk if using the product for non-recommended purposes.
