It is compatible with controlled cathodic protection and is intended for use in new building projects.
Intended Uses: The product is available in different colors: KUA760-Red Aluminium, KUA761-Red, and KUA763-Grey. It has a volume solids content of 68% ±2% and a typical film thickness of 5 mils dry (7.4 mils wet), with a range of 4 - 8 mils dry (5.9 - 11.8 mils wet) depending on the end use. Theoretical coverage is 218 ft²/US gal at 5 mils dft, with appropriate loss factors considered.
Application Methods: The primer can be applied using airless spray, brush, or roller. The mix ratio is 3 parts of Part A to 1 part of Part B, with a flash point of 82°F for Part A, 81°F for Part B, and 84°F when mixed. Drying times vary with temperature, with touch dry times ranging from 4 hours at 23°F to 50 minutes at 95°F.
Overcoating Information: The primer can be overcoated with various products, with minimum and maximum overcoating times provided for different temperatures. For example, Interfine 979 can be overcoated after 25 hours at 23°F, with a maximum of 14 days.
Regulatory Data: The VOC content is 298 g/lt (2.49 lb/US gal) as supplied, with 203 g/kg of liquid paint as per the EU Solvent Emissions Directive.
Certification: The product is certified for fire resistance under the Marine Equipment Directive and is compliant with various fire resistance standards. It is also certified for food contact for the carriage of grain.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contamination. High-pressure fresh water wash or solvent cleaning is recommended. Specific standards for surface preparation are provided, such as SSPC-SP10 and SSPC-SP6.
Mixing and Application: The product is supplied in two containers and must be mixed in the specified ratio. Application by brush or roller is recommended for small areas, with multiple coats required to achieve the specified film thickness. Airless spray application requires a tip range of 26-31 thou and a fluid pressure of at least 3000 psi.
Safety and Disposal: Proper ventilation and protective measures are necessary during application. All equipment should be cleaned immediately after use, and surplus materials should be disposed of according to regional regulations.
Limitations: The product should be applied in good weather, with the surface temperature at least 5°F above the dew point. Storage conditions and shelf life are specified, with a shelf life of 12 months at 77°F.
