The wind sensor provides a wind speed output of 0-10V, with a typical accuracy of 5% or 1.5 m/s and a resolution better than 0.5 m/s. The threshold for wind speed detection is less than 0.5 m/s. Wind direction output is also 0-10V, with 0V representing 10°, 5V representing 180° South, and 10V representing 360° North. The accuracy for wind direction is +/- 5 degrees typically, with a worst-case scenario of +/- 10 degrees. The resolution is generally less than 1 degree, with a threshold of less than 0.5 m/s.
The sensors are constructed from anodized aluminium alloy, uPVC, and stainless steel, with moulded polypropylene cups. They are lightweight, weighing less than 250 grams, yet robust. The sensors are designed to be mounted on a mast with a diameter of 30-50 mm using a V-shaped clamp and bracket, allowing for simple orientation to North using the provided compass.
Wind direction is measured using a precision conductive potentiometer, offering long life and high sensitivity. Wind speed is measured using a Hall Effect solid-state magnetic switch activated by magnets in the cup rotor. The basic model uses sintered bronze bearings, while the Pro version uses a stainless steel ball race for extended life in harsh conditions.
The system includes a 4-core cable, 25 meters supplied as standard, with a maximum length of 200 meters. The supply voltage is 24V AC at 50/60 Hz. The control box is designed to connect to the wind sensor using the provided cable.

WIND SENSOR with 0-10V output POINT NORTH WIND SENSOR The combined Wind Speed and Direction Sensors are manufactured from anodized aluminium alloy, uPVC and stainless steel with moulded polypropylene cups.The units are lightweight (less than 250 grammes) yet very robust. The sensors are designed to be mounted to a mast of between 30 - 50 mm diameter by means of a V -shaped clamp and bracket. This allows simple orientation of the sensor arm to North using the compass provided ; the only setting up required. Wind Direction is sensed by a precision conductive potentiometer which combines exceptionally long life with high sensitivity.
