Humphree Cavitation Free Stabilising Fins Due to the nature of water, which vaporises at low pressure or equivalently, at high velocity, relatively little attention needs to be paid to cavitation when designing ship appendages for speeds up to about 30 knots, while at higher speed it becomes increasingly important. Above 50 knots it is imperative to fully address cavitation, unless most unpleasant problems are to appear in the form of erosion, lift force breakdown, excessive drag, and noise and vibration. Through its unique cavitation and ventilated flow know-how, and proprietary design and simulation software, Humphree is able to offer a range of custom designed low-drag appendages which are guaranteed not to cause cavitation The current product range includes: • Sub-cavitating stabilising fins (below 40 knots) HFF400 and HFF650 • Base-ventilated stabilising fins (above 40 knots) HFF500 Modell test of a base ventilated Note the ventilated wake Sjöporten 4 SE-417 64 Goteborg Sweden The information contained in this leaflet is subject to change without notification.
