electric rudders course stabilising fixed fins The Humphree 24V DC electric rudders are used for superb course stability minimising yaw movements. The rudders are operated in manual or during auto pilot mode. Effective integration with waterjets minimizes thrust losses when steering, saves fuel and increases vessel speed. GENERAL SYSTEM ARRANGEMENT REFERENCE EXAMPLE The interceptor steering system improves the course keeping and efficiency of the vessel by keeping the waterjet steering buckets in neutral position while using the interceptors to steer the vessel at high speed. The steering force from the Humphree steering Interceptor typically corresponds to a rudder angle between 5 and 15 degrees. For larger rudder angles the water jet buckets will start to deflect and the Interceptors will contribute for up to 50 percent increased steering force in planing speeds.
