HexPly® M10R

Product catalog summary
Description
HexPly® M10R is a versatile epoxy resin suitable for low-pressure molding processes, with a processing temperature range of 85°C to 150°C. It is used in structural marine applications, recreational markets, and various industrial applications, and complies with REACH regulations.
Benefits and Features
  • Versatile cure cycles (85 - 150°C)
  • Good tack life (up to 60 days)
  • High flow matrix and good surface finish
  • Low density and translucent resin after curing
  • Suitable for thick laminates and low-pressure processing (0.9 – 5 bar)
Resin Matrix Properties
  • Glass transition temperature (TG onset): 120°C
  • Resin density: 1.20 g/m3
Curing Conditions
The nominal cure cycle is 60 minutes at 120°C with a heat-up rate of 3°C/min, 5 bar pressure, and -0.95 bar vacuum. The system is flexible, allowing curing at temperatures from 85 to 150°C and pressures between 0.9 to 5 bar.
Processing Recommendations
  • For vacuum process components, incorporate an intermediate dwell and controlled heat-up rate to minimize void content.
  • For thicker components, use internal bleed layers of dry fabric to absorb excess resin and control fiber volume.
Prepreg Physical Properties
Examples of prepreg configurations include various fiber weaves and masses, with nominal cured ply thicknesses ranging from 0.16 mm to 0.70 mm and nominal fiber volumes around 48-52%.
Cured Prepreg Mechanical Properties
Mechanical properties are based on a 120°C cure for 60 minutes at 5 bar pressure and 0.9 bar vacuum, with tensile strengths ranging from 950 to 2600 MPa and flexural strengths from 750 to 1400 MPa.
Prepreg Storage Life
  • Shelf Life: 18 months at -18°C/0°F or 5°C/41°F
  • Out Life: 60 days at room temperature (25°C max)
  • Tack Life: 45 to 60 days at room temperature (25°C max)
Storage Conditions
Store prepregs in a cool, dry place or refrigerator. Allow them to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.
Precautions For Use
Handle with care using clean, disposable gloves to avoid contamination. A Safety Data Sheet is available.
