How it began. In 1971, Larry Hewitt purchased Bauer Welding Shop in Nicollet, Minnesota. A typical work day consisted of welding, machining, automotive repair or fixing and selling lawn mowers. Hewitt’s business may have remained small if it were not for a friend with a back injury. His friend approached him with a request to build a dock that would be easier for him to put in and remove. Together, they did some brainstorming, consulted a do-it-yourself book and studied the construction of rafters that Hewitt’s uncle used in his metal business. Both our aluminum and steel frame docks make extensive use of engineered structural components to reduce weight without sacrificing strength. Built Better to Better Meet Your Needs With the strength of its design, Roll-A-Dock can be extended to virtually any length you need. The basic starter unit is a 16’ long wheel-end assembly. 4’, 8’ and 16’ add-on sections can be connected to make a single free-span dock up to 48’ long. Vers-A-Dock™ Unique design, low weight modules for easy assembly Vers-A-Dock sectional dock systems offer many advantages over a traditional post and plank dock.
