Product catalog summary
Overview: The Heskins H6612 Microprismatic Tape is a self-adhesive, high visibility safety tape designed for marking hazardous areas. It is available in various colors and is tested for reflective properties under different observation and entrance angles.
Testing Data: The tape's reflective performance is measured at observation angles of 0.2˚, 0.5˚, and 2˚ with entrance angles of -4˚, +30˚, +5˚, +30˚, and +40˚. The results vary by color, with white and yellow showing higher reflectivity compared to blue, green, and red.
Colours and Specification Limits: The tape's color performance is evaluated for both daytime and nighttime visibility, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Sheeting Orientation: According to AASHTO specifications, the tape is rotationally insensitive, meaning it maintains uniform luminance regardless of orientation. This eliminates the need for special orientation during installation.
Characteristics: The tape has a shelf-life of one year when stored at 18°-24°C and 50% ± 5% relative humidity. It has a typical film caliper of 0.11 – 0.14 mm and can be applied at a minimum temperature of 4°C. The service temperature range is -23°C to +65°C.
Printing Compatibility: The tape supports screen printing with approved inks and overlays, ensuring long-term durability. Inkjet printing is not warranted for long-term use, while thermal transfer printing is supported.
LRV Test Results: The Light Reflectance Value (LRV) test results show varying reflectance for different colors, with fluorescent yellow having the highest LRV. The tests comply with BS.8493:2008+A1:2010 standards.

HESKINS ANTI-SLIP SOLUTIONS [email protected] www.heskins.com Date: 21/03/2022 Sheeting Orientation: The American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has recognized that some retroreflective films are rotationally (orientation) sensitive. Because this impacts sign luminance AASHTO has defined a specification to measure orientation performance. Figure C shows how the orientation sensitivity is measured. For a film to be considered rotationally insensitive, the average percent difference (shown in Figure C) must be less than or equal to 20% When measured for orientation...

HESKINS ANTI-SLIP SOLUTIONS [email protected] www.heskins.com Date: 21/03/2022 Specifying agencies and sign fabricators are cautioned that some retroflective sheetings, even of the same ASTM ‘’Type’’ may not provide consistent luminance for desired night visibility if the sheeting is not applied in the optimal, or in uniform orientation. Agencies and fabricators should be aware of this concern and discuss the potential effects of rotation on luminance of specific sheetings with their material supplier before beginning installation and/or fabrication.
