Product catalog summary
Product Description: HEMPADUR 15500 is a two-component, amine adduct cured phenolic epoxy (novolac) paint. It offers excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, as detailed in the CARGO PROTECTION GUIDE.
Recommended Use: Primarily used as a tank lining. It can withstand service temperatures up to 150°C/302°F, with a maximum dry exposure of 160°C/320°F. In seawater, it can handle temperatures up to 50°C/122°F. For other liquids, consult the CARGO PROTECTION GUIDE.
Certificates/Approvals: Complies with Section 175.300 of U.S. Federal Regulations for the carriage of foodstuff in tanks larger than 2006 m3/530,000 US gallons.
Physical Constants: The paint has a flat finish with a volume solids percentage of 68 ± 1. The theoretical spreading rate is 6.8 m2/l at 100 microns. VOC content is 321 g/l. It is fully cured in 10 days at 20°C/68°F and is dry to touch in 4-6 hours.
Application Details: The product is applied using airless spray or brush, with a mixing ratio of 8.9:1.1 by volume. The pot life is 3 hours at 20°C/68°F. The recommended dry film thickness is 100 microns, and the wet film thickness is 150 microns.
Surface Preparation: Steel surfaces should be cleaned of oil, grease, and contaminants, followed by abrasive blasting to near white metal standards.
Application Conditions: Apply on dry, clean surfaces with temperatures above the dew point. The paint should be applied and cured at temperatures above 10°C/50°F, with optimal results at 17-23°C/62-73°F. Maximum relative humidity should be 80%, preferably 40-60%.
Remarks: Minor color differences may occur. Film thickness can be adjusted based on use, affecting spreading rate and drying time. Additional heat curing enhances resistance to cargoes.
Safety and Handling: Handle with care, following all safety labels and data sheets. Use HEMPEL'S TOOL CLEANER 99610 for cleaning tools.
