Product catalog summary
Product Overview: HEMPATEX HI-BUILD 46330 is a chlorinated rubber-based coating designed for steel structures in corrosive environments. It is resistant to salt water, mineral oils, and aliphatic solvents but not to animal, vegetable oils, or aromatic solvents. It can be used as a self-primed, intermediate, or finishing coat.
Specifications: The product is suitable for dry exposure up to 80°C/176°F. It has a flat finish with a volume solids content of 42 ± 2%. The theoretical spreading rate is 5.3 m²/l at 80 microns dry film thickness. The VOC content is 510 g/l, and the specific gravity is 1.3 kg/litre. The flash point is 32°C.
Application Details: Application methods include airless spray, air spray, and brush for touch-ups. The recommended nozzle orifice is 0.021 - 0.023 inches with a pressure of 150 bar. The indicated dry film thickness is 80 microns, and the wet film thickness is 175 microns. The surface should be dry and clean, with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation.
Surface Preparation: For new steel, remove oil, grease, and contaminants, and perform abrasive blasting to Sa 2½. For repairs, clean thoroughly and remove rust and loose material. Touch up bare spots to full film thickness.
Application Conditions: Ensure adequate ventilation in confined spaces. The product should not be applied in excessive film thickness to avoid blister formation.
Overcoating Intervals: Overcoating intervals vary with environmental conditions. If the maximum interval is exceeded, surface roughening is necessary. Clean surfaces thoroughly before overcoating in contaminated environments.
Safety and Handling: Handle with care and follow all safety regulations. Consult HEMPEL Safety Data Sheets for detailed safety information.
Additional Notes: The product data is subject to change without notice and is valid for five years from the date of issue. For detailed explanations and definitions, refer to the “Explanatory Notes” on the HEMPEL website.
