Product catalog summary
Description: HEMPADUR MULTI-STRENGTH GF 35870 is an amine-adduct cured epoxy coating reinforced with glass flakes. It is designed to be hard, impact, and abrasion-resistant, with good resistance to seawater and petrol splashes. It can cure underwater and is suitable for early water exposure.
Recommended Use: This coating is self-primed and high-build, ideal for areas subject to abrasion or highly corrosive environments, such as splash zones, jetty pilings, and working decks.
Service Temperature: Maximum dry exposure is 140°C/284°F. In water, the maximum temperature is 60°C/140°F, with a peak of 80°C/176°F.
Certificates/Approvals: Recognized as an Abrasion Resistant Ice Coating by Lloyds Register and tested for non-contamination of grain cargo.
Availability: Part of Group Assortment, with local availability subject to confirmation.
Physical Constants: The product is black with a glossy finish, 87% volume solids, and a theoretical spreading rate of 2.5 m²/l at 350 microns. It has a VOC content of 227 g/l and a specific gravity of 1.3 kg/litre.
Application Details: The product is mixed in a 3:1 ratio by volume and applied using airless spray. The pot life is 1 hour at 20°C, with a nozzle pressure of 250 bar. The indicated dry film thickness is 350 microns.
Surface Preparation: For new steel, remove oil, grease, and contaminants, and perform abrasive blasting to near white metal. For maintenance, remove rust and loose material, and clean thoroughly.
Application Conditions: Apply on a dry, clean surface above the dew point. The paint should be above 15°C, with optimal results at 20-30°C. Adequate ventilation is required in confined spaces.
Remarks: Light shades may yellow in sunlight and darken with heat. The product may chalk outdoors and become more sensitive to damage at high temperatures. Overcoating intervals must be adhered to for proper adhesion.
Safety: Handle with care, observing all safety labels and regulations. Use HEMPEL's Tool Cleaner 99610 for cleaning tools.
Application Equipment: Recommended pump ratio is 45:1 with a minimum output of 12 litres/minute. Spray hoses should not exceed 15 meters in length.
