Product catalog summary
Product Description: HEMPADUR 15590 is a two-component epoxy primer coating designed for surfaces exposed to severe abrasion. It is used as a blast primer for heavy-duty epoxy systems on both submerged and non-submerged areas.
Recommended Use: Suitable for application at temperatures of 5°C/41°F, preferably 10°C/50°F or higher. Maximum dry exposure temperature is 140°C/284°F.
Availability: Part of the Group Assortment with local availability subject to confirmation.
Physical Constants: The product has a semi-gloss finish with a volume solids percentage of 44 ± 1. The theoretical spreading rate is 11 m²/L at 40 microns. VOC content is 498 g/L. The product is fully cured in 7 days at 20°C/68°F and is dry to touch in approximately 3 hours at the same temperature.
Shelf Life: The base has a shelf life of 1 year, and the curing agent has a shelf life of 3 years when stored in closed containers at 25°C/77°F.
Application Details: The mixing ratio is 15:4 by volume. Application methods include airless spray and air spray, with a pot life of 2 hours at 20°C/68°F. The indicated dry film thickness is 40 microns, and the wet film thickness is 100 microns.
Surface Preparation: For new steel, remove oil, grease, and contaminants, and perform abrasive blasting to Sa 2½-3. For repair and maintenance, similar cleaning procedures apply, with additional steps for pit-corroded surfaces.
Application Conditions: Apply on a dry, clean surface with a temperature above the dew point. The minimum application temperature is 5°C/41°F, with a preferable temperature above 10°C/50°F. Relative humidity should be below 80%, preferably below 60%.
Recoating: The coating should be applied in a dry film thickness close to 40 microns. The surface must be clean before overcoating, and any patchy or greasy formations should be avoided. Recoating intervals depend on local conditions, and roughening of the surface may be necessary if the maximum interval is exceeded.
Safety and Handling: Handle with care and follow all safety labels and regulations. Use HEMPEL's Tool Cleaner 99610 for cleaning tools.
Remarks: Film thickness and thinning may vary based on purpose and area of use, affecting spreading rate and drying time. The product is for professional use only.
