Product catalog summary
Product Description: HEMPADUR 15553 is a two-component epoxy paint that cures to a flexible, well-adhering coating with good abrasion and impact resistance. It contains zinc phosphate and can cure at temperatures as low as -10°C/14°F.
Recommended Use: It is used as a primer for HEMPATEX, HEMPADUR, and HEMPATHANE systems on hot-dipped galvanized surfaces, aluminum, and stainless steel in moderately corrosive environments. It is suitable when surface roughening is not possible.
Service Temperature: Maximum dry exposure is 140°C/284°F.
Certificates/Approvals: Complies with EU Directive 2004/42/EC: subcategory j.
Availability: Part of Group Assortment. Local availability is subject to confirmation.
Physical Constants: The product has a flat finish with a volume solids percentage of 55 ± 1. The theoretical spreading rate is 11 m²/l at 50 microns. VOC content is 389 g/l, and the specific gravity is 1.5 kg/litre. The flash point is 30°C.
Shelf Life: The base has a shelf life of 6 months, and the curing agent has a shelf life of 2 years when stored in a closed container at 25°C.
Application Details: The mixing ratio is 3:1 by volume. Application methods include airless spray and brush, with a pot life of 2 hours at 20°C. The indicated dry film thickness is 50 microns, and the wet film thickness is 100 microns.
Surface Preparation: For stainless steel and aluminum, remove oil, grease, and contaminants with detergent and high-pressure fresh water cleaning. For galvanized steel, remove oil, grease, and zinc salts with high-pressure hosing and a stiff nylon brush if necessary.
Application Conditions: Apply on a dry, clean surface above the dew point. Ensure the surface temperature is above -10°C/14°F. The paint temperature should be between 15-25°C.
Subsequent Coat: According to specification, using HEMPADUR, HEMPATHANE, or HEMPATEX.
Remarks: Film thickness may vary depending on use. Avoid ammonium chloride on surfaces. Ensure complete surface cleaning for intercoat adhesion. Consult HEMPEL for specific advice if needed.
Safety: Handle with care and follow all safety regulations. Use HEMPEL's Tool Cleaner 99610 for cleaning tools.
