A cooling plant consist of four main components “Compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator”. Condenser A condenser is a heat exchanger that extract the heat of the compressed refrigerant by transferring it to a cooling medium (air/ water). In the condenser the refrigerant transforms from its vapor to its liquid state. The expansion valve controls the amount of the refrigerant that flow into the evaporator. There are two kind of expansion valve: There are two different groups of condensers: • Air cooled condenser • Water cooled condenser The orifice within the valve does not remove heat, but only reduces pres-sure.
