Hazelett Marine Sailboat

Hazelett Marine Sailboat

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Hazelett Marine provides advanced mooring systems for yachts, docks, wave attenuators, and aquaculture farms. Their systems offer a superior alternative to traditional chain moorings, addressing issues such as violent jerking and structural failure due to slack chains at low tide.

Specifications and Design
The Hazelett Elastic Mooring System uses elastic rodes instead of chains, which are tensioned at low tide and stretch as the tide rises. This design reduces point loads and provides smoother motion, making docks and wave attenuators more stable and easier to navigate in rough weather.

The system includes the Hazelett Spar Buoy, a 6-inch diameter polyethylene tube filled with foam and concrete for ballast. This buoy minimizes wear on metal connections and is connected to anchors using Hazelett Elastic Rodes made from cast polyurethane elastics.

Anchoring Recommendations
Hazelett recommends using Helix anchors or concrete blocks to secure the elastic rodes. Three types of top terminations are available for Helix anchors, catering to different shaft sizes and swivel requirements.

Environmental and Practical Benefits
The Hazelett system is environmentally friendly, as it prevents damage to eel grass and aquatic vegetation by keeping the rodes off the seabed. This promotes the regrowth of marine life such as lobsters and scallops. Additionally, the system allows for increased mooring field density, accommodating up to 64 boats in the same space where traditional systems fit only 25.

Maintenance and Cost Efficiency
The system requires fewer repairs and replacements due to its reduced metal-to-metal connections. It can remain in place year-round, eliminating the need for seasonal removal and reinstallation, thus reducing costs.

Conclusion
Hazelett Marine's Elastic Mooring Systems offer a robust, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solution for mooring needs, enhancing stability and reducing environmental impact.

Hazelett Marine Sailboat-1

DOCKS AND WAVE AT TENUATORS Docks and wave attenuators anchored with chains tensioned at high tide will wander at low tide when the chain becomes slack. When wind and waves build, chain-anchored structures will jerk violently as the chain becomes taut. Peak loads at the windward chainto-dock connections can cause them to fail. Docks and wave attenuators anchored with Hazelett Elastic Rodes (or a combination of elastic rodes and chain) are tensioned at low tide, so they stay put at low tide. As the tide rises, the elastics stretch. Docks and wave attenuators secured with Hazelett Elastic Rodes have a more gentle motion, reduced point loads, and are easier to walk on in rough weather. SINGLE POINT MOORING SYSTEMS B I There are usually 25 boats in a traditional mooring grid (top). Up to 64 boats can fit in a Hazelett Marine mooring grid (bottom). Rode Lengths The Hazelett Conservation Elastic Mooring System (A-D above) is an advanced alternative over traditional ball and chain moorings. The Hazelett Spar Buoy (J) is a 6-inch diameter polyethylene tube that is filled with foam and concrete for ballast. Wave action does not have as much of an impact on our spar buoy as it does on a ball floating on the surface, and, as a result, wear on the metal-to-metal connection between shackle...
