Hazelett Marine Docks

Hazelett Marine Docks

Product catalog summary
Docks and Wave Attenuators: Traditional chain-anchored docks and wave attenuators experience instability at low tide and violent jerking in rough weather due to slack and taut chains. This can lead to failure at connection points. In contrast, Hazelett Elastic Rodes provide stability by maintaining tension at low tide and stretching as the tide rises, resulting in smoother motion and reduced stress on connections.
Elastic Mooring Systems: Hazelett Marine offers an advanced mooring system using elastic rodes instead of traditional ball and chain. The system includes a spar buoy with a stainless steel swivel for attaching bridles or pendants, minimizing wear on connections. The elastic rodes are made from cast polyurethane elastics and are thoroughly tested for durability. Recommended anchors include Helix anchors or concrete blocks, with various termination options available.
Environmental and Practical Benefits: The Hazelett system reduces environmental impact by preventing damage to eel grass and aquatic vegetation, which are often destroyed by traditional chain systems. The elastic rodes float off the seabed, promoting regrowth of marine life. Additionally, the system allows for increased mooring field density and reduces maintenance costs by eliminating the need for seasonal removal and reinstallation.
Capacity and Installation: The system can accommodate different boat sizes with specific rode lengths, and it allows for a higher density of boats in mooring fields compared to traditional systems. The Hazelett system can fit up to 64 boats in the same space where only 25 boats would fit using traditional methods.

Hazelett Marine Docks-1

DOCKS AND WAVE ATTENUATORS Docks and wave attenuators anchored with chains tensioned at high tide will wander at low tide when the chain becomes slack. When wind and waves build, chain-anchored structures will jerk violently as the chain becomes taut. Peak loads at the windward chain-to-dock connections can cause them to fail. Docks and wave attenuators anchored with Hazelett Elastic Rodes (or a combination of elastic rodes and chain) are tensioned at low tide, so they stay put at low tide. As the tide rises, the elastics stretch. Docks and wave attenuators secured with Hazelett Elastic Rodes have a more gentle motion, reduced point loads, and are easier to walk on in rough weather.

SINGLE POINT MOORING SYSTEMS B I There are usually 25 boats in a traditional mooring grid (top). Up to 64 boats can fit in a Hazelett Marine mooring grid (bottom). Rode Lengths The Hazelett Conservation Elastic Mooring System (A-D above) is an advanced alternative over traditional ball and chain moorings. The Hazelett Spar Buoy (J) is a 6-inch diameter polyethylene tube that is filled with foam and concrete for ballast. Wave action does not have as much of an impact on our spar buoy as it does on a ball floating on the surface, and, as a result, wear on the metal-to-metal connection between shackle...
