Soon after the introduction of the highly successful Commodore 42 it became clear that a number of discerning owners would welcome the introduction of a larger luxury Hardy with similar performance to the 42 and sea-keeping to match. The new design had to be of a size and layout that allowed the larger family to cruise together on occasion, but be manageable by a couple for long periods and distances.

Access to the pontoon from either side or from aft is easy - an important consideration in a boat The lower helm area on a raised bridge deck has a companionway from the upper helm position on the flybridge and a sliding door either side from the side decks. The bridge deck makes for fantastic visibility and has a settee and dining table on the starboard side with a step up to the twin heave compensated helm seats on the port side.
