Soon after the introduction of the highly successful Commodore 42 it became clear that a number of discerning owners would welcome the introduction of a larger luxury Hardy with similar performance to the 42 and sea-keeping to match. The new design had to be of a size and layout that allowed the larger family to cruise together on occasion, but be manageable by a couple for long periods and distances.

Andrew Wolstenholme was asked to work his magic and the Hardy 50 was born. Access to the pontoon from either side or from aft is easy - an important consideration in a boat The lower helm area on a raised bridge deck has a companionway from the upper helm position on the flybridge and a sliding door either side from the side decks. The bridge deck makes for fantastic visibility and has a settee and dining table on the starboard side with a step up to the twin heave compensated helm seats on the port side.
