HAM MAR BETTER SOLUTIONS FOR SAFETY AT SEA g HAMMAR LIFEBUOY RELEASE SYSTEM INSTALLATION MANUAL * One GRP holder for lifebuoy with fixing bolts * One ERU (electric remote release unit) with cord and two metal rings * One metal spring holder with bolts * One front bracket and safety pin for manual release back-up * One cable strip to secure the metal ring 1. Mount the GRP holder in a position so that a released lifebuoy will easily fall into the water. 2. The manual release front bracket should be mounted on the opposite side of the large cut-out hole (see attached drawing p. 3). The hole in the bulkhead must have at least the same size as the slot in the front bracket. 3. Mount the metal spring holder. 4. Mount the connector box nearby the GRP holder. Make sure that the cable from the ERU will reach Hammar Lifebuoy Release System

5. Install the screened cable from the connector box and to the release switch. 6. Mount the release switch in a position so it is easy to locate and manage it. The release switch should be mounted inside the wheelhouse or bridge. Connect 12V emergency power to the release switch. If 12V is not available, use a DC/DC 8. Put in a Solas lifebuoy in the GRP holder and load the system by putting the cord with one metal ring into the slot opposite the large cut-out hole. Secure this ring with the manual safety pin.
