Product catalog summary
Overview
The HMI Exhaust Alert System is designed to monitor and alert users to overheating in marine exhaust systems. It is manufactured in Britain and is suitable for diesel inboard engines ranging from 5hp to 1200hp with rubber hose exhaust systems.

System Variants
  • Single Engine System: Available with or without a helm display. The system includes a control box, helm display, and a through hose sensor.
  • Twin Engine System: Similar configuration as the single engine system but includes two sensors.
  • Triple Engine or Twin Engine and Generator System: Includes three sensors and is available with or without a helm display.

Spare Parts
Additional parts such as control boxes, helm displays, and sensors are available for replacement or expansion.

Functionality
The system operates on a 12V or 24V supply and consists of a junction box, temperature sensors, and a helm display. It alerts users to potential overheating by sounding a buzzer and flashing warning lights.

Installation and Use
The system can be installed by the owner with basic wiring skills. It is important that the system is live only when the engine is on. The system self-tests continuously and is designed to alert users before serious damage occurs.

Limitations
The system is not suitable for inboard/outboard or petrol engines. It may not alert at very low engine revs and does not protect plastic or polypropylene components.

EXHAUST ALERT SYSTEM The HMI Exhaust Alert is designed and manufactured in Britain How does it work? The HMI Exhaust Alert works with a 12 Volt or 24 Volt supply. It has three main components: Why fit an HMI Exhaust Alert? Marine diesel exhaust systems are designed to take temperatures of only 120°C. The exhaust gasses, however, may reach more than 500°C. To cool the gasses, the exhaust depends on a free flow of cooling water from the engine. This flow can be cut off, by a plastic bag or seaweed being sucked into the intake, or by a problem with the water pump. The exhaust temperature will rise...
