Product catalog summary
Introduction
SonicShield is a sustainable anti-fouling system designed for leisure and yachting applications. It operates using ultrasonic vibrations to prevent marine growth on hulls, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional biocide-based coatings.

Specifications
The system includes a control unit and two transducers. The control unit dimensions are 300x190x70mm, weighing 2500 grams, and it operates on 12 or 24 volts DC. Each transducer has a diameter of 89mm, height of 83mm, and weighs 1100 grams. The average power consumption is 13 watts, and the full kit shipping weight is 7 kg.

How It Works
SonicShield uses ultrasonic vibrations in the 18-42 kHz range to create an inhospitable environment for marine organisms like mussels and barnacles. The system is compatible with both anti-fouling paints and biocide-free coatings, such as H2O CleanShield.

Installation Procedures
Control Unit Installation: Connect to a 12/24 Volt DC power source, ensuring correct polarity. The unit should be placed in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area with ambient temperatures between -10°C and 50°C.
Transducer Installation: Clean and prepare the hull surface, apply Loctite 3090 glue to the transducer membrane, and press onto the hull. Allow 24 hours for the glue to cure before activation.

Recommendations
Periodic cleaning is necessary, with intervals depending on location and sailing profile. Proper installation is crucial for system effectiveness.

Reference Projects
Several projects, including Van den Hoven Jachtbouw and Watertaxi Rotterdam, have successfully implemented SonicShield, noting its effectiveness and environmental benefits.

01 What is SonicShield? SonicShield is a durable anti-fouling system that works on the basis of ultrasonic vibrations. It can be used in combination with anti-fouling or with a 03 Installation of the control unit biocide-free coating system. Every year, the laws and regulations for the authorization of biocides in anti-fouling coatings are tightened up, which greatly reduces the effectiveness SonicShield is ideal to use in combination with any anti-fouling so that you have much less problems with fouling growth on your hull. Also ideal when for longer idle periods when the anti-fouling paint...

04 Installation of the transducers Proper installation of the transducers is crucial for the effectiveness of the system. Identify a suitable location for the transducers: - Direct to the inside of the hull, in case of a soft-core or sandwich hull it needs to be place on the outside shell! - Spot with min. diameter of 75 mm - Even surface Step 1 Use a sanding machine to remove all paint and make the spot as smooth/even as possible. Step 2 Clean the surface and the vibrating membrane of the transducer thoroughly with acetone of a similar cleaning product. Do not touch these surfaces after cleaning....

05 Reference projects Van den Hoven Jachtbouw “As an extra addition to our current anti-fouling system, we have additionally opted for the sustainable system SonicShield from H2O Marine. We have applied this system to two of our vessels, one of which had sailed in salt water. After about a year, we took the ships out of the water for an inspection and we are very satified with the result.” Watertaxi Rotterdam “For the 100% electric new build watertaxi’s, Watertaxi Rotterdam was looking for a sustainable anti-fouling solution that was compatible with aluminium. The choice was made for H2O CleanShield;...
