Product catalog summary
Introduction
T-Paste 70-2 is a low-density epoxy tooling paste designed for marine, wind energy, and automotive industries. It offers improvements over its predecessor, T-Paste 70-1, by enhancing design freedom and accuracy in pattern and mould manufacturing when used with CNC technology.

Benefits
  • Compatible with various mixing machines.
  • Easy application up to 40mm thickness on vertical surfaces.
  • Low exotherm and shrinkage.
  • Machinable after one day at 21°C.
  • High-quality surface finish and temperature performance up to 85°C.
  • 20% lower viscosity for easier application.

Properties
Component Properties: The resin and hardener have specific mix ratios and viscosities, with the resin appearing yellow and the hardener purple. The density varies slightly between components.
Working Properties: The mixed paste appears grey and can be applied in layers up to 40mm. It is machinable after two days at 20°C.
Cured System Properties: After curing, the paste has a density of 0.71-0.75 g/cm³, a hardness of Shore D 55, and a deflection temperature of 43°C, which can increase to 85°C with post-curing.

Substrate Selection
Various substrate foams are recommended based on cost and performance, including expanded polystyrene, styrofoam, rigid PU foam, SAN foam, and Obomodulan PU tooling boards.

Mixing and Dispensing
Using a mixing machine is recommended to avoid air entrapment. Several suppliers provide suitable machines.

Application and CNC Machining
For application and CNC machining details, contact Gurit Technical Support. Coverage is approximately 18kg per m² at 20-25mm thickness.

Recommended Sealers/Release Agents and Coatings
Different products are recommended for low and high gloss finishes, with specific sealers and wax systems advised.

Cure of T-Paste 70-2
The paste cures at ambient temperature with a performance of 43°C, which can be enhanced to 85°C with post-curing. Repairs can be made using T-Paste 70-2 Repair.

Health and Safety
Precautions include wearing protective gloves, clothing, and eye protection, ensuring adequate ventilation, and avoiding skin contact with solvents. A full Safety Data Sheet is available.

Transport & Storage
Store in closed containers between 18°C and 25°C, with a shelf life of 12 months. Spills should be cleaned with absorbent materials.

Notice
All advice is given in good faith, but customers should conduct their own testing to ensure suitability for their applications. Specifications and prices may change without notice.

The following points must be considered: 1. Skin contact must be avoided by wearing protective gloves. Gurit recommends the use of disposable nitrile gloves for most applications. The use of barrier creams is not recommended, but to preserve skin condition a moisturising cream should be used after washing. 2. Overalls or other protective clothing should be worn when mixing, laminating or sanding. Contaminated work clothes should be thoroughly cleaned before re-use. 3. Eye protection should be worn if there is a risk of resin, hardener, solvent or dust entering the eyes. If this occurs flush the...

TRANSPORT & STORAGE T-Paste 70-2 should be kept in securely closed containers during transport and storage. Any accidental spillage should be soaked up with sand, sawdust, cotton waste or any other absorbent material. The area should then be washed clean. (See appropriate Safety Data Sheet). The shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture for both Resin and Hardener. Ideally, storage should be in a warm dry place out of direct sunlight. The temperature should be between 18°C and 25°C. Containers should be firmly closed, as the hardener in particular will suffer serious degradation if left...
