Section 1: Operation Instructions
  • Proper disposal and flushing of the gun head are crucial, using the 3-way valve for air purge and solvent.
Section 2: Shut Down Instructions
  • Ensure critical parts are cleaned for smooth start-up. Flush gun head with solvent and air purge, stop material pump with shaft up, clean, and refill lube cup. Cycle pump with shaft down during shutdown, close main air supply, and bleed air pressure.
Section 3: General Information
  • Includes assembly drawings and parts lists for components like Spartan Gun and Solvent Tank. Weekly maintenance involves inspecting and lubricating pump linkages and shafts. For long-term storage, use dry nitrogen in material drums and ensure all valves are off.
Section 4: Troubleshooting
  • Avoid air or gas entrapment in material streams to prevent defects. Check for air leaks or contamination in the catalyst system.
Section 5: Safety Information
  • Emphasizes user responsibility for safe operation, outlines safe polyester operations, and recommends consulting OSHA and NFPA standards. Highlights personal safety equipment and hazards associated with laminating operations, particularly with MEKP.
Introduction: Detailed safety information and handling procedures for MEKP and other hazardous materials in laminating operations, emphasizing risks of exothermic reactions and contamination.
Key Sections:
1. Exothermic Reactions and SADT: MEKP can undergo dangerous exothermic reactions when contaminated, with SADT being a critical threshold for explosive outcomes.
2. Safety Information: Proper MEKP handling involves education, safe storage, and contamination prevention, with recommendations for cool, dry storage and protective equipment.
3. Clean-Up Solvents and Resin Diluents: Advises against using Halogenated Hydrocarbon Solvents with aluminum or galvanized components due to explosive risks, recommending safe alternatives.
4. Catalyst Diluents: GlasCraft systems avoid catalyst diluents to reduce contamination risk. If necessary, suppliers should premix diluents.
5. Uncured Liquid Resin: Store resin away from MEKP in ventilated areas, avoiding open-top drums to prevent contamination and ignition.
6. Accumulation of Overspray and Sandings: Regular removal is crucial to prevent fire hazards, with emphasis on equipment maintenance and leak repair.
7. Toxicity and Chemical Injuries: Awareness of chemical toxicity and first aid measures is essential, with recommendations for protective clothing and eyewear.
8. Equipment Safety: Personnel should wear safety gear and only trained individuals should handle equipment.
Emergency Stop Procedures
Steps to safely stop machinery in emergencies include turning off the yellow air valve, system regulators, and relieving pressure from catalyst and resin lines.
General Safety Precautions
Includes wearing protective eye equipment, maintaining material levels, stopping operations at leak signs, and ensuring pressure relief before disassembly. Regular checks of hoses, nozzles, and seals are emphasized.
Grounding
Grounding prevents static electricity buildup, recommending AWG No. 18 stranded wire for grounding straps and referring to NFPA Bulletin No. 77 for guidance.
Warranty Policy
GlasCraft offers a one-year warranty against defects, void if equipment is altered or misused. Claims require written notification and return authorization.
Technical Assistance
Contact GlasCraft distributors or technical service for support, with a checklist of information to have ready.

Section 1 - Installation: Equipment Assembly Sec1:4 12. Make sure solvent regulator is dialed to zero. (Turn knob fully counter-clockwise) 17. Replace yellow guard using a 5/32” hex balldriver. 13. Carefully relieve any pressure in the solvent tank by slowly pulling the relief valve. 14. After all the pressure is released from the tank, open the lid and fill the tank with a suitible, clean flushing solvent and close the lid securely. 18. Before operating the material pump, flush thoroughly with a clean, suitible solvent to remove test fluid. 15. Remove yellow guard using a 5/32” hex balldriver....
