Choosing Your GMT Pole
Measurement Instructions: To determine the appropriate pole for your boat, first measure the 'J' dimension. This is done by measuring on deck from the front of the mast to the head stay fitting. This measurement will typically correspond to your approximate pole length.
Pole Selection Matrix:
  • Pole Models: 3L, 3S, 4L, 4S, 5L, 5S, 6S
  • Pole Diameter (ID): Ranges from 3.0" to 6.0"
  • Tube Weight per Foot: Ranges from 0.55 lbs to 1.7 lbs
  • Equivalent Alloy Tube: Ranges from 3.0" to 6.5"
  • Maximum Pole Length (SPL in ft.): Ranges from 13.0 ft to 34.0 ft
  • Typical Boat Size: Models range from J30 to S77
Additional Information: The poles include paint or clear finish and hardware installation. End fittings need to be added separately.
Tube Options:
  • Bare Tube: Cut to length, no paint, fittings, or holes drilled.
  • Painted Tube: Cut to length, no fittings or holes drilled.
End Fittings Compatibility:
  • Forespar End Fittings: Various models are compatible with different pole sizes.
  • Sparcraft End Fittings: Intrepid II and inboard end stub are compatible with all sizes.

CHOOSING YOUR GMT POLE. First take the “J” measurement on your boat. To do this you should measure on deck from the front of the mast to the head stay fitting. This is your “J” measurement.
