Product catalog summary

Product Characteristics

Type 1805 is a solvent-free, high solid content, one-sided adhesive known for its high yield and ease of application. It spreads well, sets quickly, remains permanently elastic, resists aging, and exhibits excellent adhesion to nearly all substrates.

Applications

Suitable for bonding light mineral felts, artificial leather, woven fabrics, nonwovens, foams, galvanized or painted metal sheets, corrosion-protected metals, raw or treated glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFK), wood and lacquered wood surfaces. Also effective on polystyrene, lining papers, expanded polystyrene panels, flat absorbent substrates, cork wall coverings (with or without backing), corkment, PVC coverings, and mineral fiber boards.

Technical Specifications

  • Heat Resistance: Up to 130°C (Armstrong method); above this temperature, adhesive becomes plastic.
  • Cold Resistance: Approximately -80°C.
  • Color and Consistency: Pale beige, viscous, suitable for brushing, spatula, and rolling application.
  • Consumption: 200 to 400 g/m² depending on substrate and materials.
  • Hazard Classification: Non-flammable, non-toxic.
  • Cleaning: Water or synthetic resin thinner.
  • Storage: Up to 6 months at temperatures between 0°C and 20°C; protect from frost. For longer storage, add 10% water and cover adhesive surface. Components may separate due to density differences; thorough stirring before use is essential.

Application Recommendations

Before use, the adhesive must be thoroughly stirred to ensure uniform mixing. The bonding surface must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, or any substances that repel adhesives.

Application Method: Apply with a brush or a 10 cm lambswool roller. After initial application, roll over the entire surface again with a fully loaded roller to ensure even distribution.

Open Time: Immediate to 20-30 minutes, temperature-dependent (higher temperatures shorten, lower temperatures extend open time). The adhesive is ready when it forms filaments on the finger (finger test). Regular testing is recommended.

Special Notes for Ceiling Application: Since the adhesive has no initial tack, apply adhesive to the ceiling, press the roughly cut material into the wet adhesive so the adhesive transfers to the material’s back. Wait until the adhesive becomes stringy (finger test), then immediately press the material firmly onto the ceiling.

Wall Application: On vertical or falling walls, material can be applied immediately after adhesive application. If room temperature is low, heating is recommended to ensure immediate bonding.

Adhesion Check: Filaments should form between material and substrate. Material can be repositioned during the stringy phase. If adhesive becomes glassy, apply fresh adhesive to prevent bubbles under the material.

Important Recommendations and Limitations

These instructions are based on thorough testing and practical experience. It is strongly recommended to conduct test bonding under local conditions and with the specific materials to be used. The manufacturer disclaims liability for adhesion failures due to application conditions beyond their control. Refer to general business terms for further details.
