Technical Specifications
GH CRANES introduces the CORE+ SYNCHRO system designed for easier and safer handling of large loads using two hoists. The system features bi-directional communication between CORE+ and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for hoisting, trolley travel, and crane travel, connected via CANopen fieldbus. The software is upgradable through a USB port. It requires VFDs for all movements, an incremental encoder at each lifting motor, and a laser rangefinder, but does not rely on expensive or failure-prone sensors, making it maintenance-free. The system ensures a maximum lifting error of 10mm and a cross travel error of 50mm, and it can be easily connected or disconnected using a touchscreen or optional remote control.
GH’s Solution: CORE+ SYNCHRO
The CORE+ SYNCHRO system automatically maintains relative distances between hooks both horizontally and vertically, working with two hoists of the same or different capacities on the same crane. It features a touchscreen for easy configuration and monitoring of crane operations, including power consumption, alarms, and system faults. The system is easy to retrofit to existing cranes, with the CORE+ unit mounted on the electrical panel door.
Advantages
The system eliminates the need for manual adjustments of hook positions, enhancing productivity and safety. It is hassle-free for operators as it automatically maintains relative positions with minimal sensor requirements.
Operational Process
1. CORE+ SYNCHRO receives inputs from VFDs, including operator commands (accelerate/decelerate), actual speeds (hoisting, trolley travel, and crane travel), vertical position of each hook (via hoisting motor encoder), and relative distance between trolleys (via laser rangefinder).
2. An exclusive built-in algorithm determines optimal acceleration and deceleration rates based on these inputs.
3. CORE+ SYNCHRO instructs VFDs on how to perform the movements.
4. The process repeats, ensuring continuous optimal operation.

SYNCHRO Easier and safer handling of large loads using 2 hoists GH’S SOLUTION: CORE+ SYNCHRO •Automatically keeps relative distances between hooks. Both horizontally and vertically. •Works with 2 hoists of same or different capacity, operating in same crane. •Touch-screen: easy configuration and crane monitoring (power consumption, alarms, system faults). •Easy to retrofit existing cranes. The CORE+ unit is affixed to the electrical panel door. No need to make manual adjustment of relative position between hooks •Hassle-free for operator: maintains relative positions automatically. •Minimal sensor requirement. Increased Productivity and Safety. 1/•CORE+ SYNCHRO continuously receives following inputs from VFDs: - Commands from operator (accelerate / decelerate). - Actual speeds (hoisting, trolley travel and crane travel). - Vertical position of each hook (given by the hoisting motor encoder). •Relative distance between trolleys (given by the laser rangefinder). 1/ Inputs from VFDs and laser 2/ Built-in exclusive Algorithm Algorithm determines, based on above inputs, optimal acceleration / deceleration rates. CORE+ SYNCHRO instructs VFDs how to perform the movement. TECHNICAL DETAILS Bi-directional communication between CORE+ and the VFDs for hoisting, trolley travel and crane travel. Connection via CANopen fieldbus. - Software is Upgradable via included USB port. - Requires VFDs for all 3 movements, incremental encoder at each lifting motor, and 1 laser rangefinder. - Does not require expensive or failure-prone sensors. Maintenance-free. - Closed-loop control: Maximum error in lifting 10mm.
