Program Overview
Matson Navigation Company, Inc. has contracted for two combination containership/roll-on, roll-off (ConRo) vessels. The deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2019 and the second quarter of 2020. These vessels are designed with dual fuel main and auxiliary engines, which can operate on LNG after future conversion.

Design Overview
The vessels measure 265.0 meters in length, with a beam of 34.9 meters and a draft of 11.5 meters.

Cargo Capacity
The ships can carry approximately 3,500 TEUs. They feature a garage with four decks for autos, two decks for trailers, and a stern quartering ramp, accommodating up to 800 autos. They also have a large reefer capacity.

Propulsion
The propulsion system includes a slow speed, direct drive diesel engine with a fixed pitch propeller. The main engine is a MAN 6G90ME-C10.5-Gl, which is LNG-capable. There are four medium speed, dual fuel diesel generators as auxiliary engines. The vessels can reach speeds of 23.0 knots and have a deadweight of 44,200 metric tons.

Other Design Features
The design is LNG ready and energy efficient, complying with Tier III emissions regulations. It features a fuel-efficient hull form and a ballast water management system.

Design Agent/Material Supplier
The design and materials are supplied by Daewoo Ship Engineering Company (DSEC), a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). NASSCO has collaborated with DSEC on multiple projects over a successful ten-year partnership.
