Open the catalog to page 2PETER MUNZLINGER A new season has passed, and designing the 2014 range of sails for Gaastra has been very exciting. For most sails I redesigned them from scratch, this for several reasons. First I wanted to clean my Peter Munzlinger

Open the catalog to page 9(learn more on the next pages...) For more power and better handling. Imagine more power with less work. These new rigs really do make your time on the water more effortless. No matter how powered up you get, the sails twist to keep you moving forward. The redesigned twist releases tension from the head and allows the leach to twist earlier, thus taking away the back hand pressure! Now the sails can be more finely tuned than last years. We have accomplished this by more shape down low and plenty of range to be able to pull more downhaul without losing the power. The 2014 range adapts to...
Open the catalog to page 10This Gaastra material offers 5 times stronger UV protection than standard clear monofilm. A huge advantages in durability and performance, because the profile and shape will stay more contant on the long term. Comes on."Manic, Manic HD, IQ, Poison, Cross, Matrix and Cosmic. In addition to our radial panel layout, this reinforces the sail along the load lines while reducing the stretch of the material allowing the sail to hold its shape longer when you get hit with stronger winds. This little add on for the top cap on the Vario Tops protects the adjustable webbing from breaking down from...

Open the catalog to page 16In order to be able to reduce the weight of the sails we developed a completely new range of laminate materials, with a much thinner film supported by a double structure of fibers, a balanced scrim of fibers orientated in the warp and fill and a classic X-Ply angled series of fibers. From here the name 2-Ply. We created a complex woven web with the highest durability that is very light weight. ^Beside the proven X-Ply we use this new laminate in the upper sail body to achieve minimal swing weight and protection of critical areas. • less weight: use of new 2-PLY laminaflKMRuces the weight in...

Open the catalog to page 28New luff curve and shaping points in the seams, getting more shape low and in the front of the sail and straight?! ening the back. The battens have slightly more rotation ■than in previous models and the trimming range is mora flexible. The clew position is relatively low, foot is rela- tively straight and the head is moderately exposed. The top half of sail is in our lightweight and elastic 2-Ply material. We kept the Dacron luff panel as in our opin- ion it is the best-.material when looking for smooth and soft behavior, and great neutrality. The seams around the window are 30mm with 2...

Open the catalog to page 32New luff curve and shape in the seams, making it the fullest sail in our wave range. The profile is in a slightly more back position. The boom is slightly longer than the Manic for an increased power output. New Dacron luff panel enhances softness and neutrality during wa- veriding. Clew position is higher, foot is moderately ex- posed and head is relatively smaller. The top half of sail is in our lightweight and elastic 2-Ply material. The seams around the window are 30mm with 2 rows of triple stitch, for higher strength and durability. Radial panel layout further enhanced at the clew with...

Open the catalog to page 34O Lightweight and strong new school wave sail O Compact & radical 4batten sail O Great range of use with perfect handling THOMAS TRAVERSA The I.Q really stands out in marginal and tricky condi- tions, because it feels light, nervous and powerful at the same time. I also really like to use the I. Q in bigger waves for the drive it gives to the board, together with a com- pact feeling which allows some fast and tight turns use of 2-Ply // in upper body for reduced weight, swing weight and better response DACRON LUFF PANEL // for softer, smoother feeling and"maximum neutrality Radial Panel...
Open the catalog to page 36The new IQ has a new luff curve while the profile and 4 batten concept remains the same. The shape has been updated for greater comfort. Although the IQ has been modified slightly, compared to the other 2014 wave sails, you can feel a great improvement on the water. The sail now feels lighter in the hands and is much more controllable in the jumps. On the wave it is radical and agile as ever. The 4 batten design for the latest new school style, powerful and radical, for those who want to always stay closer to the hollow part of the wave. New luff curve. The shape in the seams is slightly...
