Safety and Warnings
Kiteboarding is inherently dangerous, requiring users to exercise extreme caution and ensure good physical health. It is essential to maintain a safe distance from downwind objects and obstructions such as trees and power lines. Certified instruction is recommended for beginners.
General Safety Guidelines
Check local wind conditions before launching a kite. Use a kite leash for control and ensure a clear area of at least 100 meters downwind and to each side.
Primary Dangers
Kiteboarding risks include being pulled into the air, dragged into obstacles, or drowning. Avoid flying near power lines, roads, or during storms.
Rider Safety
Fly kites only over water, ensure strong swimming ability, and use a disengageable kite leash. Avoid flying near other water users.
Bar Set-Up and Security System
Ensure lines are untangled and laid out correctly with the blue line on the right and red on the left. The Gaastra Leash Safety System allows for quick depowering, connecting the safety leash to the 5th line and the rider's harness.
Kite Tuning
Adjust tension on front and back lines for optimal performance. Longer bars increase turning speed, while shorter bars decrease responsiveness.
Inflating/Deflating Kites
Inflate struts first, followed by the leading edge, ensuring no sharp objects are nearby. Use 8-9 PSI for optimal performance. Deflate starting with the leading edge.
Attaching Lines
The GOOF PROOF system prevents incorrect line attachment. Ensure lines are knot-free and properly attached before flying.
Warranty and Liability
Users are responsible for their safety and the safety of others. The manufacturer provides a warranty policy and claims process, but users must acknowledge the inherent risks of kiteboarding.
Assembly Instructions
1. Connect the flying lines using a lark’s head knot to the kite's attachment points.
2. Ensure correct positioning of the lines and maintain tension during setup.
3. The 5th line is used for water relaunch and depowering in overpowered situations.
Kite Care
Avoid sharp objects and excessive sun exposure. Deflate bladders when not in use and dry the kite properly to prevent mildew. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use.
Repairing Kite Bladders
Identify leaks using soapy water or submersion. Mark and patch holes, then reinsert the bladder carefully, ensuring no twists or crimps.
Warranty Policy
Covers defects in material or workmanship for 6 months. Does not cover misuse, abuse, or normal wear and tear. Warranty claims require a return authorization and original purchase receipt.
Release of Liability
Users assume all risks associated with kiteboarding and waive claims against Gaastra International Group Ltd. for any injuries or damages.
