Product catalog summary
Specifications Overview:
The FT742-DM is a robust wind sensor designed for direct mounting on a 33.7mm pipe, capable of measuring wind speeds up to 75m/s. It is suitable for various meteorological applications, including weather stations and hurricane research. The sensor is compact, durable, and resistant to environmental factors such as corrosion, dust, and ice, with an IP66, IP67, and IPX6K rating.
Wind Measurement:
  • Speed Range: 0-75m/s with a resolution of 0.1m/s and accuracy varying from ±0.3m/s to ±4% depending on speed.
  • Direction Range: 0 to 360° with a resolution of 1° and an accuracy of 4° RMS.
Sensor Performance:
The sensor uses Acoustic Resonance technology, automatically compensating for temperature, pressure, and humidity variations. It operates at altitudes up to 4000m and temperatures from -40° to +85°C.
Power Requirements:
The sensor operates on a 12V to 30V DC supply, with a typical current of 31mA when the heater is off. Heater power consumption is configurable, with a default limit of 99W.
Physical and Interface Details:
The sensor weighs 380g and offers both digital (RS485) and analogue (4-20mA) interfaces. It supports ASCII data formats and provides error handling mechanisms for invalid readings.
Environmental Testing:
The FT7 Series has passed over 30 environmental tests, including corrosion, icing, and shock tests, ensuring reliability in harsh conditions.
Additional Features:
Acoustic temperature measurement is available on digital sensors, with a resolution of 0.1°C and accuracy of ±2°C under specific conditions.

FT742-DM (DIRECT MOUNT)-1

ACOUSTIC RESONANCE WIND SENSOR The FT742 Direct Mount fits directly onto a 33.7mm pipe and reads wind speeds up to 75m/s. This makes it ideal for a wide range of meteorological applications and for wind resource assessment. Small yet very rugged, it is easy to heat even at low power. With no moving parts to degrade or damage and resistant to shock and vibration, it is easy to transport and will perform consistently, time and time again. The hard anodised aluminium body is highly resistant to corrosion, sand, dust, ice, solar radiation and bird attack. The sensor is sealed to IP66, IP67 and IPX6K standard. Typical uses of this sensor include: weather stations, defence, hurricane research, cold climate monitoring, portable met masts, airports, harbours, railways, alpine resorts, dynamic positioning systems, buoys and mining.
