Technical Description DYNAMIC POSITIONING 191 W James Dr St. Rose, LA 70087 504-620-9800 x1020 504-620-9801 (fax) www.emi-marine.com Integrated Dynamic Positioning System (DPS-1) Technical Description ABS Steel Vessel Rules 2002 section 4.3.5/15.9.3(a) requires for DPS-1 notation that the vessel be equipped with an “automatic control system and an independent backup centralized manual position control system with automatic heading”. A recent ABS policy statement defines the centralized manual position control as an “independent joystick” that cannot be reliant upon the automatic control computer. • EMI exceeds this requirement by providing two duplicated fully independent automatic control systems, both of which include integrated joysticks. Effectively, for DPS-1, we provide two fully independent DP Systems. • EMI includes as a part of our integrated system, the external interface switches necessary to shift from manual control to either of the two (A and B) DP control systems. The SVR section 4.3.5/15.7.1 ABS requirements for a DPS-1 system include two DGPS receivers, two Anemometers and two Gyros. • These are integral parts of the overall DPS system and are normally provided by, or at least specified by, the DP vendor. The data collection and transmission rate of the Gyro and DGPS must be fast enough to allow the system to maintain station and the output serial data streams must be compatible with the vendor’s DP system. • EMI includes these in our basic system. All first and second tier control system components must meet the requirements of SVR2002 section 4-3-5/15.9.1 requiring that they be tested to the environmental criteria associated with SVR2002 section 4-9-7 Tables 9 and 10. • EMI uses only Type Approved Equipment for all Control System Components. Details are included in the System Block Diagram Drawing o AMOS A310 Computers o Jakob Hatteland 15.1” monitors (larger monitors available) o Siemens ESM Network Hub o Siemens S7-300 Series PLC and I/O equipment The EMI DPS further provides a Motion Reference Unit (MRU) which not only provides important roll and pitch information for the vessel operator but is also used to further improve the dynamic positioning of the vessel by considering the roll and pitch of the DGPS antenna and reflecting its location to the vessel Center of Gravity. • The MRU is included in our basic system • Further provides a real-time display of the pitch and roll of the vessel • and a time averaged list and trim to assist the Captain in loading the vessel even when underway next to a rig

Technical Description The EMI DPS continuously displays the gyro heading on all pages and it is displayed in the OFF MODE in large bold text. The OFF Mode can be used as a Navigational Tool with the continuous display of GPS position (Lat/Long), wind speed/direction, heading and speed. The EMI I-DPS Basic System Software • designed and developed in the United States, specifically in the New Orleans Area • Dynamic Positioning algorithms are based on proven PID Controller/Feedback technology • The platform for the software is a LINUX Operating System thereby staying away from the inherent...

Technical Description The touchscreen functions were designed to make them user friendly and easy to use, thereby requiring only minimal training. Each monitor is hooked to its own client ABS Type Approved computer which are in turn linked via TCP/UDP/IP to the main CPU processor. Interface to the sensor input, command output and feedback input for the system is via ABS Type Approved Siemens PLC’s and I/O located in the engineroom, bow thruster room and in the pilothouse. A set of two portable mini-joysticks are provided at each operating station. • The first dual-axis joystick controls the...
