Product catalog summary
Application
This document outlines the specifications and applications of various mast antennas designed for maritime mobile services. These antennas, including models STA 40 M, STA 50 M, STA 60 M, STA 70 - 100 PM/M, and STA 105 - 140 PM/M, are engineered to endure extreme climatic and operational conditions. They provide maximum strength, stiffness, and reliability with minimal maintenance, functioning as vertically polarized radiators with omnidirectional patterns for both transmitting and receiving signals.
Specifications
  • Frequency Range: 100 kHz – 30 MHz for receiving; 1.5 - 30 MHz for transmitting.
  • RF Power: Up to 1 kW.
  • Insulation: Greater than 107 Ohms.
  • Polarization: Vertical.
  • Characteristic: Omnidirectional.
  • Material: Glassfibre reinforced synthetic resins with embedded electrolytic copper radiators.
  • Color: Light grey similar to RAL 7035 or dark grey similar to RAL 7000.
  • Temperature Range: -40° to +70°C.
Mechanical Design
The antennas are composed of two sections: a lower "mast" section with a base insulator and an upper section. The lower section is self-supporting and connects to the upper section via a junction assembly. These antennas are non-magnetic and require minimal installation space.
Environmental and Maintenance
Designed to withstand marine environmental stress, the antennas require negligible maintenance, needing only occasional cleaning with sweet water and soft detergents.
Installation and Mounting
Typically mounted vertically, these antennas can be installed at a sloping angle on ships to prevent oscillation. Certain models offer a quick mechanical tilting device.
Spare Parts and Ordering Information
The document provides a detailed list of spare parts with order codes for each antenna model, along with ordering information, including options for external feeding and additional top fork capacitance.
Overview of Additional Antennas
The document also covers the STA 115 C/MF/HF/E and STA 150 C/MF/HF/... antennas, designed for transmitting in the frequency bands of 405 - 535 kHz and 1.5 - 30 MHz, primarily used for long-distance communication.
Specifications of Additional Antennas
  • Frequency Range: MF 405 - 520 kHz, HF 1.5 - 30 MHz, expandable from 250 to 1000 kHz with different loading coils.
  • Max RF Load: MF 500 Watts, HF 2000 Watts.
  • Impedance: Resistance 0.5 - 4 Ohm, Capacitance 200 - 500 pF.
  • Polarization: Vertical, omnidirectional.
  • Construction: Made of glass-fibre reinforced polyester, resistant to sea environments.
  • Height and Weight: STA 115 is 11.5 m tall and weighs 50 kg; STA 150 is 14.5 m tall and weighs 82 kg.
Design and Features of Additional Antennas
  • Consist of three sections: Lower Mast Section, Loading Coil Assembly, and Top Rod Assembly.
  • Loading coil and top load capacitance ensure efficient voltage distribution and low angle propagation.
  • Interchangeable parts reduce spare part supply and inventory costs.
  • STA 150 offers internal base injection and external feeding options, with a watertight design for base-injected equipment.
Installation and Modifications of Additional Antennas
  • Can be installed on supporting pipes with tilting devices, with modifications available for non-directional beacons and aviation NDBs.
  • RF feed insulators are designed to maintain stable antenna impedances.
Environmental Resistance of Additional Antennas
Both antennas are designed to withstand harsh sea environments, with protective measures against icing and minimal impact from environmental factors.

It is ideally suited for extreme climatic and operational conditions, where these antennas guarantee max. strength, stiffness and reliability. It requires very low maintenance. The antenna mainly operates as a vertically polarized radiator with an omnidirectional pattern. It can be used as both transmitting and receiving antenna. Receiving antennas may be equipped with wideband toroidal core matching transformers types EAU 60/240 resp. EAU 60/240/II as per data sheet. Mechanical Specification Installation Proposal Design This very robust antenna is the result of decades long experience with glassfibre reinforced synthetic resins. The electrolytic copper radiators are embedded into the resin laminate. The antennas consist of two sections. The lower section with its base insulator has a length of approx. 3 m. This self-supporting lower “mast” section is connected with the upper section by means of a junction assembly. Upper sections are available with lengths of 1, 2 and 3 meters. The antenna is absolutely non-magnetic. Required Space Only a minimum of space...

Application When the antenna transformer is used, short rod or wire antennas (3 to 15 m) can be connected to a coaxial cable. The antenna transformer considerably improves the efficiency of the receiving antenna, particularly in the lower frequency range, and protects the receiver from static charges. Because of the high RF power limit of 100 W, the antenna transformer can also be used for receiving antennas which have been set up close to transmitting antennas.
