Product catalog summary
Overview
The Littoral Mine Countermeasure SONAR (LMCS) System by EdgeTech is an advanced solution for detecting mines and underwater IEDs. It integrates cutting-edge sonar technology with automated target detection and classification software from Seebyte, and is designed for use on various platforms, including small boats and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs).

Sonar Technology
The LMCS System utilizes EdgeTech's proprietary Dynamically Focused and Multi-Pulse side scan sonar technologies, offering exceptional swath coverage and ultra-high resolutions. It features a dual frequency sonar (600/1600 kHz), with the 600 kHz frequency providing high-resolution mine detection up to 125 meters per side, and the 1600 kHz frequency offering detailed classification with resolutions down to 0.8 cm.

Features and Applications
The system is designed for classification of underwater IEDs and includes specifications such as:
  • Frequency: 1600 kHz Dynamically Focused, 600 kHz Multi-Pulse Dynamically Focused
  • Pulse Type: Frequency Modulated Pulse (CHIRP)
  • Pulse Length: 0.5 to 2 ms, 2 to 10 ms
  • Resolution (along track): < 6 cm to < 17m
  • Resolution (across track): 0.8 cm to 6.0 cm depending on pulse length
  • Max Operating Range: 35 m/side (70m swath) to 125 m/side (250m swath)
  • Operating Speed: 2-14 knots
  • Power: 115/230 VAC at 200W max

Automatic Target Recognition (ATR)
The system includes Automatic Target Detection (ATD) and Automatic Target Classification (ATC) components, which mark, label, and position targets on charts for future reference.

Vehicles
The LMCS can be deployed using a 'towed UUV' for maximum decoupling from surface vessel motions, or integrated into other vehicles as electronics and arrays.

LITTORAL MINE COUNTERMEASURE SONAR SYSTEM Targets are identified using SeeByte's Automated Target Recognition (ATR) software. ATR is used for detecting and labeling targets that are observed on a sequence of sonar frames in both real-time and in post processing. The system's ATR is comprised of Automatic Target Detection (ATD) and Automatic Target Classification (ATC) components. As targets are detected and classified, they are marked, labeled and precisely positioned on charts for later use. The LMCS is available on a variety of platforms configured to user requirements. The Basic System comes...
