An extremely high contrast dot matrix display offers a range of possible screens. Apparent and true wind readings are available on each of the wind displays (true wind is only available if a log transducer is connected). Three GPS repeater screens are included as a bonus (including Echopilot's famous pseudo-compass steering aid to a waypoint for sailboats), allowing a GPS to be connected as well as the wind sensor if an NMEA combiner is used. The ultrasonic masthead unit has no moving parts and is easily installed on any mast. Two pairs of ultrasonic crystals give both wind speed and direction in NMEA 0183. Errors common on wind vane sensors due to heel and gyroscopic effects (precessing) are virtually eliminated.
