Product catalog summary
Company Overview
The Hilger u. Kern / Dopag Group is a leading manufacturer of metering and mixing systems for plural component polymers and single component media such as greases, oils, and pastes. With over 250 employees and a presence in more than 30 countries, the company has been developing tailored systems and components for over 35 years.

Applications of Fibre-Reinforced Plastics (FRP)
Fibre-reinforced plastics are increasingly used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and shipbuilding due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, ease of processing, and suitability for complex parts. The trend is moving towards automated production processes, driven by energy efficiency and sustainability considerations.

FRP Manufacturing Processes
Three main processes are used for producing fibre-reinforced plastics: Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM), and Filament Winding. These processes utilize various resins like polyurethane, epoxy, and acrylic, applied using metering and mixing machines.

Compomix Systems
The compomix series includes four systems: compomix 103 D, 103 M, 603, and 603 V. These systems handle low to medium viscosity multi-component media and offer features such as variable mixing ratios, flow rates, and pressure regulation. They are solvent-free and equipped with static mixing systems.

Technical Specifications
All compomix systems operate at a working pressure of 100 bar and support a viscosity range of 10 – 80,000 mPas. They are powered by a 3 x 400 V / 50 Hz supply and have a maximum air inlet pressure of 6 bar. The systems vary in dimensions and weight, with the compomix 603 and 603 V being the largest and heaviest.

Software and Functionality
The metering systems are controlled via an 8” touch screen, with data saved in CSV format for analysis. The software supports flow rate and mixing ratio calculations, pressure regulation, and malfunction alerts. It also features programmable shot sizes and pressure monitoring to prevent mould damage.

Additional Features
The compomix systems offer advanced functions like metering with a parameterized volume profile, constant pressure regulated metering, and a follow-up pressure function to ensure complete mould filling and prevent surface defects.

The compomix is a solvent free gear metering and mixing system. The range includes four types of systems • compomix 103 D • compomix 103 M • compomix 603 • compomix 603 V The compomix is used to handle low to medium viscosity multi component media such as polyurethane, epoxy or other resins for the production of fibre-reinforced plastics. Material pressure vessels are used to supply the material into the asynchronous motor driven gear pumps. Each gear pump is protected against over pressure and dry running as standard. A metering computer is used to control and monitor the system. A particular...

Operating data The operating data of the metering system is The software used with the metering computers displayed on an 8” touch screen, other optional MR15 / MR30 has been developed specifically to meet the high requirements which are necessary The real time data is saved periodically (adjustable from 1 to 60 second) in a CSV format. The data can be loaded onto a USB stick via a USB port on the touch panel. The analysis can be made with an Office tool such as MS Excel. • Display and calculation of the flow rate and the mixing ratio • Display and regulation of the injection pressure, temperature,...

In addition, the compomix software has three timed stages. further special functions unique for the application The volumetric flow profile is based on internal mould pressure monitoring, so should pressure in • Metering with parameterised volume profile the mould reach the maximum allowed, the flow • Constant pressure regulated metering rate will be reduced automatically. • Follow-up pressure function The mixing ratio is regulated on the compomix. Constant pressure regulated metering During filling, pressure inside the mould increases. This pressure can influence the mixing ratio which therefore...
