Offshore Mooring Buoys

Offshore Mooring Buoys

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Foam mooring buoys are increasingly used in inland waterways and offshore environments as an alternative to traditional steel buoys. These buoys are available in various configurations, including chain-through types and those equipped with pad-eye, crucifix, quick release hooks, and navigation equipment. They are designed to resist seawater corrosion with galvanized or painted steel fittings.

Key Features
  • Un-skinable closed cell rigid foam core
  • Polyurethane elastomer outer skin
  • Polyester reinforced skin
  • Self-fendering with high impact absorption
  • Various end fitting options
  • Robust construction with low collision risk
  • Customizable colors, sizes, and shapes

Applications
  • Offshore and remote mooring
  • Temporary mooring in ports, docks, or harbors
  • Additional mooring for large vessels
  • Long-term mooring for infrequently used vessels
  • Inland waterways and navigation channels

Specifications
The document provides a table of specifications for different buoy models, detailing dimensions, weight, and net buoyancy. For example, the CMB1 model has a diameter of 700 mm, a height of 1500 mm, and a net buoyancy of 1000 kg.

Materials
  • Foam Core: Made from cross-linked poly or polyethylene foam, these cores are flexible, resilient, and closed-cell to prevent water absorption.
  • Polyurethane Elastomer: Used as a coating material, providing high load-bearing capacity and resistance to fatigue, abrasion, hydrolysis, and UV.
  • Reinforcement Layer: Nylon reinforcement adds strength and extends lifespan in extreme conditions.
  • Steel Frame: High-quality steel treated with painting or galvanization for durability.

Production Process
The production process involves creating a steel frame, forming the foam core, applying the coating, and attaching end fittings.

Offshore Mooring Buoys-1

MOORING BUOYS Foam mooring buoys are in service for inland waterways and offshore instead of traditional steel mooring buoys. The cylindrical mooring buoy is one kind of representative mooring buoys. The cylindrical mooring buoys can be supplied in chain-through type, or equipped with pad-eye, crucifix, quick release hook, and maker or navigation equipment. Other wide variety end fittings and accessories are available to suit every case application. All end fittings are made of galvanized or painted steel to resist seawater corrosion. This drawing shows a typical specification only. For the specific design of each buoys, please feel free to contact us. Mooring Buoys Specification The large mooring tube with 82.5mm ID will accept mooring chain of up to 20mm in diameter. The mooring tube is not moulded into the buoy but slides into a tubular section that runs down the center of the buoy enabling the tube to be replaced at any stage during the product’s service life. The mooring buoys can be installed with various fittings on the top. And the mooring buoys can be designed to meet different request. It has same design with common mooring buoys. Customized size are available upon request. www.doowinmarine.com - [email protected]
