DISCOVERY 67 - SPECIFICATION General The Discovery 67 is designed to comply with the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) to meet Design Category ‘A’ – Ocean and will be marked accordingly. As standard, the yachts are not built to meet the requirements of the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for the purposes of commercial charter. 1. GENERAL LAYOUT and Construction of Hull and Deck The Hull. The hull is laid up in female moulds. The immensely strong lay up specified by the Designer and Structural Engineers is designed to meet or exceed full CE regulations Category “A - Ocean”. The hull has two coats of isothalic gelcoat which is nonpigmented below the waterline helping to resist osmosis. This is followed by powderbound mat. Sprayhood and (optional) Bimini Top The cockpit is well protected by a large folding sprayhood with 32mm (1 ¼” diameter stainless supports and a stainless grab handle on its aft edge. Large clear panels provide good forward visibility. When not in use the sprayhood folds behind a moulded coaming on the coachroof. A Bimini Top is offered as an option. The mainsheet is lead forward to the mast and then to the port cockpit coachroof control position on the 67T which keeps the aft deck clear and uncluttered. 7. SPARS AND RIGGING The oval section mast is keel stepped, with triple swept back spreaders, which does away with the need for running backstays and forward facing lowers.
