The flue collar is mounted on the side to maximize usable space on the narrower cook top. Also the Bering is the only Dickinson stove that has the unique single latch door. The Bering is designed for galley’s that are lacking in width in that you will still get a good amount of cooking space as well as still getting that nice dry diesel heat to keep your boat free of moisture. The Bering requires a 5” diameter chimney that needs to be at least 4ft tall and should not exceed 8ft. A straight run is ideal but if bends are needed do not exceed 45 degrees. A fresh air vent close to the base of the stove is highly recommended to ensure a constant supply of oxygen to the burn chamber. When installed on a sailboat it needs to be installed in a fore to aft configuration for operation while on a heel. The oil metering valve can be calibrated to work with Diesel, Kerosene
