Irwin, the Company is still located at the original factory site in Columbus, Indiana. 60 percent of production in that first year was marine. 1920s Cummins introduced its first fully enclosed marine diesel engine in 1925. 1940s The Halton, a logging tug built by Russell Boatyard of Ontario in 1941, was capable of towing a mile-long boom of logs with a weight equivalent of 20,000 tons.
