Conrad Shipyard are a yacht builder located in Gdansk in Poland, whose fascinating history as one of the first private yacht builders from that country is retold earlier in this book in the feature on the S/Y Talisman. With a reputation firmly established in building and refitting luxury sailing yachts, in 2002 the yard made an important diversion. An American client approached the yard about building a 27m luxurious motor yacht designed by the British yacht designer 'Bill Dixon'. Before commencing the construction of this yacht however, the company decided that due to the complexity of large motor yacht construction, a specialist company should be formed to handle only the luxury yacht projects the company built. This company was subsequently formed in 2003 and is now firmly established as Conrad Shipyard, the name by which the yachting world knows them today. Building a fully custom built 27m motor yacht literally from scratch, is as any yacht yard will agree not an easy task. Nevertheless what Conrad Shipping did have as a starting point was a wealth of experience and with Bill Dixon onboard, a design firm with an international reputation for high quality work.
