TECHNICAL DATA SHEET TOPCALE GENERIC TYPE TYPE : PAINT FOR SHIP HOLD AND BOTTOM : ALKYD URETHANE DESCRIPTION: TOPCALE is a single-pack satin alkyd-urethane resin-based paint. Its excellent resistance to abrasion and aggressive environments make it the ideal paint for holds and bottoms. If a food grade paint is necessary (i.e. ACTALIM 103), TOPCALE should then used as an undercoat. CLASSIFICATION: AFNOR NF T.30.003 - Family I - Class 4a PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Resin binder Pigment Density at 20°C Viscosity NF 4 at 20°C Solids Flash point Colour Finish : Alkyd-urethane : Titanium oxide-organic or mineral pigments : 1.34 + 0.05 : 150" + 5" : 74 + 2 % by weight / 51 % + 2% by volume : between 21°C and 55°C : White, pearl grey, buff, green and brownish red : Matt-satin SURFACE PREPARATION: TOPCALE must be applied on a clean and dry surface. Wood : covered beforehand with WOOD PRIMER 127 Steel & metal : protected from corrosion beforehand with STEEL PRIMER 127 Polyester : on degreased and sanded surfaces. PAINT PREPARATION: Mix thoroughly before use. APPLICATION: TOPCALE can be applied readily by brush, roller or spray (protective equipment must be worn when using in a closed area). Thinning : 1st coat : 5-10 % of THINNER 127 2nd coat : no thinning Spray : 10-15% of THINNER 127 Recommended thickness per coat : 100 microns wet (50 microns dry) Drying time at 20 °C : Surface dry : 1 hour To touch : 4 hours To recoat : 18 hours Coverage : Theoretical : 10 m²/l Practical : 7 m²/l Cleaning solvent : THINNER 127 PACKING AND SHELF-LIFE: Available in: Shelf-life: 0.750 litres, 2.5 litres and 16 litres 18 months unopened and stored in a dry place.
