TECHNICAL DATA SHEET STEEL PRIMER 127 GENERIC TYPE TYPE : ANTI-RUST PRIMER : ZINC PHOSPHATE DESCRIPTION: STEEL PRIMER 127 is an anti-rust alkyd primer designed to protect steel and ferrous metals in a marine and industrial environment. Formula based on modified zinc phosphates, totally zinc chromate free. CLASSIFICATION: AFNOR NF T.30.003 - Family I - Class 4a PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Resin binder Pigment Density at 20°C Viscosity NF 6 at 20°C Solids Flash point Colour Finish : Styrenated alkyd : Zinc phosphate : 1.48 + 0.05 : 55" + 5" : 70 + 2 % by weight / 46 % + 2 % by volume : > 21°C : Pearl grey : Satin SURFACE PREPARATION: STEEL PRIMER 127 must be applied to a clean and dry surface, free of all dirt, calamine, grease and oil. Rust must be removed with a steel brush and then dusted. PAINT PREPARATION: Mix well before use. APPLICATION: STEEL PRIMER 127 can be applied readily by spray, brush or roller. Thinning : 1st coat : 5 % max. of 127 THINNER 2nd coat (optional) : no thinning Recommended thickness per coat : 80 microns wet (40 microns dry) Drying time at 20 °C : Surface dry : 1 hour To touch : 4 hours Recoat : 12 hours Must be recoated with a PLASTILAQUE 127 type topcoat Coverage : Theoretical : 10 m²/l Practical : 8 m²/l Cleaning solvent : 127 THINNER Temperature range : Min. 5°C - max. 35°C PACKING & SHELF-LIFE: Available in: Shelf-life: 0.750 litres, 2.5 litres, and 16 litres. 18 months unopened and stored in a dry place.
